Ely, United Kingdom, 18 November 2014 – Vigilant Software, the leader in compliance software, has developed a unique online service that enables companies to apply for certification to Cyber Essentials, following a convenient ‘do it yourself’ approach.
Vigilant Software was commissioned by IT Governance, a CREST-accredited certification body for the Cyber Essentials scheme, to develop a streamlined online solution that will not only simplify the application process, but also make it more time- and cost-effective.
The Cyber Essentials scheme, which was officially launched on 5 June 2014 by the UK Government, was developed to keep UK businesses safe. It aims to establish a baseline for cyber security and sets out the key steps to manage cyber risks.
The Cyber Essentials scheme applies to small- and medium-sized organisations and large companies alike. British organisations that meet the assessment requirements of the scheme will be awarded a badge to demonstrate compliance. There are two levels of compliance: Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.
The platform, branded CyberComply by IT Governance, allows applicants to complete the entire application for Cyber Essentials certification online, including scheduling the required vulnerability scans for Internet-facing IP addresses. The system has been designed in such a way that it enables the applicant to take action on remedial activities required in the five sections of Cyber Essentials before finalising the questionnaire and submitting the application to IT Governance.
Alan Calder, founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, says, “This service has been developed with our clients in mind – it represents a convenient solution to obtaining CREST-accredited Cyber Essentials certification, without the hassle of having to schedule an appointment and complete lengthy forms. The online application process helps our clients save time and money.”
Customers who purchase a Cyber Essentials certification application from IT Governance will be directed to the CyberComply secure portal where they will be able to complete the mandatory Cyber Essentials questionnaire.
Upon receiving a successful assessment by certification body IT Governance, the applicant will receive a Cyber Essentials certificate, testifying that the organisation meets the requirements of Cyber Essentials, as outlined by CES accreditation body CREST.
The fixed-price ‘Do it yourself’ Cyber Essentials certification service by IT Governance can be booked online at www.itgovernance.co.uk/shop/p-1622.aspx.
